Do you live in one of Brisbane’s best streets?

By Sandy Taylor

A group of 20 of Queensland’s most prominent agents recently came together to vote on what they believed were the best streets in Brisbane. Home to the a world famous fashion designer, and the head of a giant Queensland company, Sutherland Street in Ascot has taken out the top honour.

Each agent could pick five streets in Brisbane, with their first pick getting five points down to their last choice getting one point. Using this method, Sutherland street, with only 16 homes on it was the clear winner. Known for it’s glorious tree lined street and classic heritage homes on large blocks of land. But there were many streets worth mentioning, Laurel Avenue in Chelmer came a close second, with more agents voting for it, but not as their first pick, followed by Virginia Avenue in Hawthorne. Key points that the agents were looking at was the presentation of the homes in the street, and the sense of community. One agent stated that a reason for one of her votes was the great community spirit in particular around Christmas, and the spectacular Christmas lights display that the street works on together.
